LIFE Leadership College Programme

How will LIFE Leadership College
develop me?

We believe long-lasting growth comes from holistic learning, learning that engages the head, heart and hands.

50% of the course is based around the classroom - with lectures, student groups and Chapels focused on biblical teaching and leadership.

About the course

LIFE Leadership College offers two programmes - both First and Second Year consist of classroom teaching and Practical Training.

Classroom learning focuses on theology and leadership and is supported by student small groups and Chapel, which support the overall growth of students. Each student is given a tailored Practical Training plan to apply the leadership principles taught in class and develop their leadership. This will be in line with the Practical Training Pathway chosen by the student: either Pastoral Leadership, Creative Leadership or Community Impact.

The leadership and management skills developed throughout the course of LIFE Leadership College are relevant across most, if not all, employment sectors and will assist students in their future careers, as well as any voluntary roles undertaken.

  • Students will build upon and strengthen the foundations of their faith and leadership throughout this year. In theology classes, students will examine the doctrine of understanding God and the significance of humankind, the overarching biblical narrative, spiritual growth, mission, ministry and discipleship. Leadership classes will help students identify their unique strengths, develop their self-leadership, and lead others.

Students are given opportunities to reflect upon their learning and apply this through practical training including supervised projects, peer leadership and Sundays - as well as student-led Chapel services and student groups.

  • Throughout Second Year, students will develop their ability to disciple and lead others. In theology classes, students will learn to interpret scripture in light of context and genre, identify biblical principles regarding contemporary issues and understand other worldviews. Leadership classes will help students identify the strengths of others and develop them for greater impact.

In practical training, students will be given projects with greater scope to further develop their confidence, leadership and management skills. Second year students will also lead student groups and coordinate student-led Chapel services.

These skills will assist graduates across all employment sectors in leading and developing people.

Biblical Teaching

Classes are interactive environments with the ability to ask questions and practically apply learning.

  • When I felt the prompting of the Holy Spirit to register for Life Leadership College, I wondered if God had shoulder-tapped the wrong person! As a mature student, it was some time since I had completed my university studies and I was unsure how I might be received at College among students with a wide range of ages and experiences. Right from the first day my concerns were put to rest and I was made to feel, not just welcomed, but celebrated. I was part of a team with my new year group, supported by the second year students and I had access at all times to assistance and encouragement from everyone on the College staff. The academic teaching was engaging and relatable and the opportunity to work with others and to develop and grow personally was invaluable. Most importantly, the application of all that I received from LLC has informed my own Ministry and made it a richer and deeper experience, not just for myself but for others.

  • LIFE Leadership College was both one of the most challenging and stretching, yet fulfilling season for me. I learnt and grew immensely. It was the perfect training ground for leadership as well as the expansion of knowledge on the Word and Kingdom principles. Even for someone who might exude leadership and have roles that would imply that ‘you’ve arrived’, with all things leadership - there’s more! There’s always more! It’s also equipped me to find confidence in navigating the unknown spaces which is exactly what I’m having to do now in my role as a Team Lead developing other youth mentors.

  • You can go to church most Sundays for your whole life and still be able to miss the point. You can be kind to others and look to do good things and still miss the point. Loving God and loving people from that place is more than just good things, it starts with God and knowing His will. The best thing, not just the good thing, is God’s will. My decision to follow God’s will took me to LLC in 2021.

I was 27, I had done the work life, I had just graduated from university, but I could not shake this feeling that there was more. I told God that 2021 and LLC was His year. God got the next year as well, and I will keep giving Him the rest of them too. God used LLC to show me who He was and who I was in His eyes. I no longer wore masks, I let people in and I received love. I write this now, knowing that I do not have to be scared of God’s will and leadership, because all He ever asked me to be, is the Jada He designed me to be.
